The Spark (by Hunter at Show Her Off Dance).

New or Rerun?

Did you know sharing common interests doesn't predict how happy a couple is?

But new things together… that predicts a lot.

One study gave couples 10 weeks of novel activities. They came out happier than the couples doing the same comfortable things.

The catch: new doesn't mean big.

A different coffee shop counts. A board game neither of you knows counts.

Tonight, fifteen minutes after dinner, list what you two did together last month. Mark each thing new or repeat.

All repeats? You're not boring. Routines are how busy people survive.

Now just pick one new thing together and put it on this week's calendar.

Bonus: whoever usually says "I don't care, you pick" has to pick.

The Double Compliment

One compliment. Said twice.

Once to your partner: "That dinner you pulled together out of a half-empty fridge? Incredible."

Once about your partner, to somebody else: "You should see what she can do with a half-empty fridge."

The first one feels good for a minute. The second one has a longer shelf life. It travels, it gets repeated, and one day it comes back to them from a direction they never expected.

Straight out of The Kindness Challenge. For couples who did this daily, most saw the relationship improve even when only one of them was trying.

Pick your compliment and try to tell them before lunch tomorrow.

Bonus: their mom is the highest-value target. ;)
