Playful Text Idea

Sometimes the sweetest thing you can do is bring back a silly memory you almost forgot about together.

Scroll back through your old texts with your significant other (or just dig into your memory) and find an inside joke from a while back. Screenshot it or just reference it cold:

“Lol just stumbled on this. [the joke / screenshot]. Why are we like this 😂 I love it.”

Feel free to alter to fit your voice.

Bonus points if it's something random from before kids, before the move, before the chaos.

The Overwhelm Antidote (Savor Together)

A new study found a simple way to help your significant other when life feels like too much.

It's called joint savoring, and it comes in three flavors:

  • Look back (a shared memory)

  • Look around (a good moment happening right now)

  • Look ahead (something you're both excited about)

That's it.

Couples who do this regularly were happier and argued less. But the most interesting finding was who it helped the most:

"When couples face greater stress, savoring can serve as a buffer, helping protect their confidence in their relationship and their mental health."

So when your significant other is drowning in to-do lists and life feels like too much, this is a tiny way to help them feel on top of things again. Together.

Try one this week:

  • Look back: pull up an old photo and tell the story

  • Look around: at dinner tonight, actually pause and say "this is nice"

  • Look ahead: talk about something you're both excited about and let yourselves get excited together

The small stuff is the big stuff.

Connecting Conversations

"We are most alive when we're in love."
~John Updike

This weekend, try asking your significant other:

  • What do I still not completely understand about you?

  • If you had a personal flag, what would be on it?

  • What’s the pain in me you wish you could heal?
