Connecting Conversations

Sometimes a great question is all you need to start a meaningful conversation :)

This weekend, try asking your significant other:

  • Where are you falling short of your potential?

  • If I were a genre of music, what would I be and why?

  • What small thing had a big impact on our relationship?

Date Night

Let’s bring the magic of going out for a date night… home.

Who tends to hop into their comfy clothes when they get home from work or settle in for a movie night at home? 🙋‍♀️

To make this week’s date night special, I encourage you to get dressed up like you’re going out to your favorite restaurant or bar.

Take stock of your wardrobe: is there an outfit you haven’t worn for a while but love?

How about something you never have the occasion for?

These are the perfect options!

Fancy Dinner Date

Treat this date night like a special night out.

Plan your outfits, the menu and create a special setting.

It’s more about the intention than where you’re going (or not going in this case).

Here are a few things to consider:

  • Will you have a theme (black tie, Victorian romance, cowboy, old-world ball?)

  • Will you choose an existing outfit or buy something new?

  • Will you cook (together?) or order takeout?

  • Will you make pre-dinner cocktails?

As for the setting, what can you do to make your dining room just a bit more special?

  • Clear any clutter

  • Bring out your best dinnerware (bonus if it’s something you rarely use)

  • Light candles around the room

  • Buy fresh flowers for the table

  • Create a romantic playlist for the evening

  • Dim the lights if you can

  • And, of course, don’t bring your phones to the table!

Budget: $25 for fresh flowers

I’m curious to know how fancy you get! 🎀

The Love Lab

In Dr. Gary Chapman’s Love Languages concept, there are 5 primary ways that people express and receive love.

One of these is Quality Time.

These individuals thrive on the quality of the time they share with their significant other.

This means undivided attention, reducing distractions when you’re together and actively listening to them.

This seems like pretty good advice for everyone, right?

The key here is to make the effort to add meaning to the time you spend together and focus on activities that create deeper bonds between you.

You know, like date night dancing 😉

Other ways to ensure you’re spending quality time together:

  • Commit to regular date nights ✔️

  • Find shared hobbies

  • Learn something new together

  • Volunteer for a cause you both believe in

  • Try to remain undistracted when together (this might mean planning ahead so that work interruptions, for example, can be dealt with before or after time spent together)

To go deeper into Quality Time as one of the 5 Love Languages, this is a good article, and so is this one

Here’s to regular date nights and deeper connections 💝
