Cook your partner’s most memorable meal

How to honor your partner every day

Welcome to The Spark (by Hunter at Show Her Off Dance).

Every Thursday, I’m going to send you a quick, five-minute email with fun date night ideas, conversation starters, and resources to help strengthen your relationship.

My goal is to help you and your partner have more fun, feel more closely connected and create more meaningful memories together (just like with Date Night Dancing).

Connecting Conversations

Sometimes a great question is all you need to start a meaningful conversation :)

This weekend, try asking your significant other:

  • Where do you need to be thinking bigger?

  • What do you think is a compliment I receive often?

  • Do you think we spend enough time together?

Have any questions that you’d suggest I include for future editions?

Reply to this email and let me know.

A great way to keep the spark going without always having to come up with new ideas is using the adventure challenge book!

With this book as your guide, you and your significant other will grow in new levels of your relationship through adventures and experiences you will never forget.

The catch? Your adventure is a surprise until you scratch off a challenge. It’s like scratching a lottery ticket but you win every time!

Date Night

Does anyone here love food? 👋

This date night idea is all about learning something new about your partner... and how to cook a new dish!

Cook what your grandma taught you

What’s that one dish that makes you think of home?

Or maybe a dish that represents you and where you came from.

It could be something that was cooked for you as a child.

Or one that has a particularly positive memory.

Now you’re going to teach your partner how to make it!

The beauty is that you can share stories about the times you ate it in the past, the memories surrounding it and the people associated with it.

Pick something that will give your partner a glimpse into who you are.

And of course, each of you should get to choose, so pick a day for each of you to take the lead.

Budget: $20+, depending on the recipe

I hope you learn something new about your significant other and get to eat a delicious meal together 🍝

The Love Lab

One thing we can all commit to is honoring our partner.

It doesn’t even cost anything.

Every single day, we have a new chance to make them feel special and cared for.

How do you want to do this?

You can start by thinking about what you would like: is it to hear how your partner feels more often? Is it spending more quality time together?

Having a pay-it-forward attitude is a good way to model what you want.

And you can tell them!

Here are some ways that you can honor your partner every day.

  • Come up with a ritual: it could be as simple as a kiss before you run off for work or as intimate as ensuring you make sustained eye contact and say “good morning” before getting out of bed.

  • The spirit of generosity: come up with ideas for how to be generous. This could be practical, like offering to do the dishes if that’s your partner’s usual task, or more intangible like thinking of a new way to compliment them for no reason.

  • Be their best friend. I know every relationship has its own dynamic, but a common thing I hear from long-term partners is that they’re best friends. Besties are supportive and they actively lift each other up.

  • See the best in them. Always look for the things they do right and notice the things you admire about them. And then tell them that you noticed and appreciate them.

That’s it for this week’s edition of The Spark :)
